Gateway for Imbolc embodies a transition from winter to spring. Inspired by St Brigid’s Cross, traditionally a symbol of protection above the front door of the home, this installation marks a threshold of safety and prompts reflection on extending the caring mindset outdoors. Imbolc’s return to life is mirrored in new shoots and whispers of reemergence. The site-specific proposal, in collaboration with environmental mediums, provides a moment of care during this seasonal transition. Encouraging interaction, visitors are invited to adorn the sculpture with their St Brigid’s crosses throughout the month, intertwined with repeated Twelve Rush Crosses, resulting in a collective celebration of home and nature, entangled.
About Tuning Group
Tuning Group is a social arts collective set up by Mo Langmuir and Samuel Collins. Setting out to explore the space between Environmental Biology and Political Architecture. With a focus on shared space and the collective social experience, we work towards the disruption and expansion of existing Western paradigms, offering to rethink human-non-human relationships and envisage new models for collective storytelling with an emphasis on place.
